I am suddenly not able to save a revision of a file/document that I edit on a continuous basis.
I didn’t do anything unusual, so I have no idea what caused this error message or what to do to get rid of it. None of the “Possible reasons” in the error message apply.
In one of your recent posts you have mentioned an update, please specify how exactly you performed it. I see that the installer was downloaded, how it was used after the download?

I’m sorry, I don’t recall. I just found a webpage at the website that had a link to update and clicked on it. Then followed the usual steps to install – i.e., moving a graphic image of the app onto a similar image of the Applications folder.
Is that relevant to the issue of the file not being able to be saved?
I am still getting the same error message and so have had to make a copy of the file.
No problem editing the copy.
Again, none of the suggested issues in the error message are relevant.
It is possible that the duplicates of the app are causing this issue. I have replied to you in another topic with suggestion on how to re-install the app, please see it there:
Try running through suggested steps to re-install the app. If there are items in Recent section, clear out the list and try opening the file again.
I see now why you recommended those reinstall steps (in the other post).
But since I already duplicated the file (the one that won’t let me resave it) and have been working in that version ever since, I’m inclined to just assume your explanation is probably correct and leave things as they are.
There is the remaining mystery of how two versions of the update (8.3.3) were downloaded and installed. But now I know that the preferred way to handle updates is from within the app, so I’ll do it that way in the future,
Sure. In that case I am closing the topic is solved. Feel free to start a new one in case the issue occurs after another update. In case you find any other files that produce the same issue before the update, please let me know via PM, I will re-open this thread to continue troubleshooting.
