PLEASE add search text function in PDF and improve performance scrolling in .doc files

ONLYOFFICE Mobile: Documents / Projects / Web Editors
Do you want to: Suggest a feature / Report a bug /
Device: Smartphone Samsung Galaxy
OS version:
App version: 8.2.3
Mode: On Device

Please, add search text function in PDF documents, at the moment i have to install another app a pdf viewer. Why developers had remove it? this choice is incomprehensible.
Another problem is the fluidity when you scroll pages because it’s jerkily instead in most apps like SmartOffice or WPS this operation occurs very fluidly (i can’t add videos because i’m new user) and if possible i would to know why app’s cache increase from about 0 KB to 150 MB opening the first document after installation.

Thank you for answers and good jop.

Hello @userOO

Thank you for your detailed feedback and for reaching out to us.

Regarding the issues you mentioned:

  1. The absence of the search function in PDF documents and
  2. The jerky scrolling when navigating pages

I’ve forwarded these concerns to our development team. As soon as we have any updates or solutions, I will make sure to inform you.

As for the cache size increase: could you please specify the size of the document you opened? The document itself is stored in the cache when opened, which may cause a temporary increase in the cache size.

If possible, could you provide the document you were working with? You can attach it here or send it via private message. This will help us reproduce the issue on our side.

I’ve also upgraded your forum level, so you now have the ability to attach files. Please note there is a 10 MB limit for file uploads.

Hello @userOO

Thank you for your feedback and for describing the issues in detail. Let me address your points:

  1. Scrolling fluidity in .docx documents
To investigate this issue further, we’ll need a video showing how the problem manifests on your device. At the moment, it’s unclear what exactly happens on the screen, so a recording would be very helpful.

  2. Cache size increase from 0 to 150 MB
We’ve confirmed this issue and are actively working on resolving it. Thank you for reporting it!

  3. Missing text search in PDF documents
Unfortunately, the search function is not currently available in PDF files. However, we’re planning to add this feature when PDF editing becomes possible in our editors.

If you have additional feedback or questions, feel free to share them. Your input is very valuable to us! :handshake:

test.docx (17.3 KB)

as you can see OnlyOffice take several more time to open same file and page scrolling is jerky not fluid compared to SmartOffice app or other doc editor like WPS and occur with any type of docx document

please, regarding text search in PDF is sufficent to introduce this function without any editor tools for PDF

thank you!
wait for good news by you

Hello @userOO

Thank you for providing additional details about t :hugs:he issue.

To help us reproduce and investigate the problem further, we’ll need some additional information:

  • Could you please confirm the exact model of your Samsung Galaxy device?
  • Any specific settings or conditions under which the issue occurs.

We’ve tested this behavior on Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Samsung Galaxy S10, but we were unable to reproduce the problem. Your input will help us narrow down the cause and ensure accurate testing.

We look forward to hearing back from you!

I’ve tested on Samsung galaxy A33, Samsung galaxy A165G both update to Android 14 (OneUI 6) and Xiaomi Redmi 7A running on Android 10. I have’nt link any cloud service to onlyoffice and during test only 3 or 4 apps are in background like whatsapp, google chrome, a client email, no video game or other resource-intensive apps

Hello @userOO :handshake:

Thank you for providing additional information. We’re currently investigating the problem.
If we need further details or have any updates, we’ll be sure to reach out to you. We appreciate your patience and valuable input! :hugs:
