This is a very weird bug that I just started experiencing on my new computer that I put together this past Wednesday. I’ve been using OnlyOffice Calc for years to do my personal finance spreadsheeting, without issue. The spreadsheet is on a network drive, and works perfectly on both of my other Linux PCs, and my Windows PC (and also on the Linux PC this new one replaced).
When I type a formula into a cell (=E10-C11+C11, or even =10+10) and press enter, the formula box at the top shows the formula as typed, but the cell is blank. The font is set to Arial 11 automatic color, and I still get nothing if I change the font or the font color. If I save and close the spreadsheet, and calc, and reopen it, the cell shows the formula’s result correctly.
I’ve spent the last 2-3 days trying various versions of OnlyOffice, checking and unchecking the “Use graphics acceleration when available *” box, altering which compositor renders the window, and whatever else I could figure out (even going so far as asking ChatGPT, which basically walked me through all the things I’d already tried), with no results at all. I can’t figure out why this would even be happening, so it’s been a real brain stretch to guess and test various possibilities.
It might be a long shot, but I figured I would ask here and see if anyone has any idea what’s even happening. For any super nerds, I’ve tried using X11 and Wayland, same problem on both, and I’m using Arch with KDE Plasma.
Thanks!
I have the same issue, super frustrating.
Mine was working fine for many years, until I have just updated onlyoffice community edition to 8.2.0.143
I installed OnlyOffice in a VM on Arch with OpenBox, and it appears to work just fine. It also works fine on my laptop which is running Archcraft with OpenBox. It must be something with KDE Plasma’s compositor or KWin, but I’ve adjusted everything I can think of and it still happens. So weird.
Scratch that, same problem on OpenBox in the VM.
So if I take the newly opened file, and I insert a line at a position it will replace some existing formulas with empty cells, others with #NUM!.
if I then downloaded a copy of the file to my local machine and opened it in using microsoft office, while the editing is still blocked office shows the same output. So this would appear to be something to do with the rendering engine rather than the graphics
Hello @tonytony123 and @vwagenjetta
As far as I understand the situation has been reproduced on the Arch with KDE Plasma in both cases. Could you please specify exact versions of the OS and Plasma?
I’m using edge Version 130.0.2849.56 on Windows 11 Pro Version 10.0.22631 Build 22631.
Onlyoffice document server community edition running on ubuntu server, version 8.2.0.143.
Nextcloud Hub 30.1.
Note this only started happening after I recently updated onlyoffice.
@tonytony123
I’ve tried to reproduce the situation, but without success. What is the version of the ONLYOFFICE connector app?
Additionally, could you please record a videofile with your test? I’m trying to figure out if my tests might be incorrect.
Thanks Alex, here you can find a video of this issue. This is a bit different to what I see but the same effect and likely same root cause. It will not let me share the video so I put on YT.
Onlyoffice connector 9.5.0
Hello there,
can you go to “File” > “Advanced Settings” and check if you have activated the new option about “iterations”. I had some cells that would not update and after activating this new “feature” the cells were working again. Maybe it is somehow related to what I have experienced.
thanks @bermuda but this made no difference.
@tonytony123
I have previously had some issues with graphics in connection with an update of firefox (about a year ago or so). So I downgraded and those issues disappeared. Basically some portions of the document didn’t respond to updates anymore + some minor graphical glitches while scrolling.
Have you tried to go to the last known working setup? I believe those things won’t be resolved any time soon.
I myself work with KDE (still on X11) and use firefox. I have a clean user account on that machine with a addon-free, clean firefox profile, to check stuff like that.
Same issue since I’ve uploaded the latest version of Onlyoffice desktop.
The formulas are not displayed in the cells when the display of the formulas is activated, despite they are indeed defined.
If I open my file with any Excel the display is reestablished.
It only disappear when I create a new formula or when I copy and paste a formula
It seems to be a major bug of the latest version 8.2.0.143
I reproduced the issue on Arch with KDE Plasma 6.2.2, Archcraft with OpenBox (both on Kernel 6.11.6-arch1-1), and on Debian Bookworm (in a VM and on hardware with KDE Plasma 5.27.5, Kernel 6.1.0-26-amd64).
I have recorded a video showing the issue I’m describing. When I drag down to copy and paste a formula, the formula pastes into the cell as it should (I highlight the formula bar to show the correct formula is in fact shown), but the cell shows as blank. When I close the program (saving my changes) and reopen it, the results of the formula show again as they should.
How do we submit a formal bug report?
so I updated my nextcloud to 30.0.2 in the hope it would help, but it made it worse.
Now even if I close the file and wait, then re-open it no longer fixes the issue.
Hello there.
I use onlyoffice in a docker environment with nextcloud 29. I’m on a KDE desktop on kubuntu 20.04 / 22.04 and 24.04 and latest firefox 132 (I have 3 pc’s here). I’m still running onlyoffice version 8.1.3 in my docker setup and have recently installed version 8.2 directly from snap on 20.04 and 22.04 for testing purposes. I have no issues you describe here at all.
Can you upload an example? I would gladly test it and see if we can pinpoint it to something.
Cheers.
