Greetings. Am I missing something or is there no ability to insert multiple lines in a spreadsheet? Thanks!
Hello
Actually to insert multiple rows, you just select several rows before clicking “insert rows” :

Did I understood your question right ?
In French, the label “insérer une ligne” in the menu is singular and so misleading (I asked the same question here some time ago).
I suggested it to be change to a plural “insérer des lignes”. The best would be the label to depend on how much lines are selected before choosing the option.
Thank you for your reply! This is somewhat useful but does not handle the logic of inserting X number of rows between two existing rows (of data.)
Hello @paulf123
Please elaborate on described functionality. Do you mean inserting N amount of lines in between to rows?
Thank you, yes that is exactly it. I’ve also posted similarly hoping for something like CTRL-Y functionality where the function could be repeated.
Frankly, I think that the easiest way to insert N amount of rows between existing rows is:
- Select a row, above which you want insert empty rows;
- Use combination CTRL+Shift++ to insert new rows;
- Repeat action above N amount of times.
To repeat this action you can simply hold CTRL and Shift keys and keep pressing + necessary amount of times.
NB: Make sure to select a row first. You can do this by clicking on a row number to the left of the sheet or using Shift+Space to select a row, when a cell from necessary row is selected.
As for the CTRL+Y functionality: I’ve replied to you in respective topic.
Perfect thank you!!!
I am gad to know it helped. Should I mark this topic as solved?
I learned something useful today, thanks !
I am glad to know that the information was useful. Since there is no reply from original poster, I’m considering this topic as solved.
