What are these little yellow squares?

On a completely separate note, I have observed that sometimes (and only sometimes, I don’t see a pattern), when I open a document, there are little yellow squares all over the place. No idea what’s going on there.

Yes, I figured that out - what I didn’t understand is why they seemed to appear randomly — e.g., sometimes when I open a document, they were there, and other times when I opened the same doc, they’re not. The Opt key does toggle their appearance but I wasn’t pressing that key.

In any case, it’s an interesting usability mechanism that I’ll have to keep in mind for one of my own products.

Hmm, it does seem to happen at random — I had a presentation open (using the desktop application but connected to cloud and editing there) and was in another program (Xcode) and suddenly noticed that those yellow squares were being displayed.

Is it possible that ONLY OFFICE sometimes picks up that the option key was pressed even if it doesn’t have the focus?

Is it possible to capture this scenario on video to share with us?

In general, please share some additional information some of which was requested earlier:

  • version of Desktop Editors;
  • type of chip your Mac is running (Intel or Apple Silicon);
  • version of macOS;
  • whether external monitor is used, if any of the Apple laptops are used.

Would love to but this seems completely random, meaning I have not determined any particular sequence of events that causes this to happen.

I will do my best to pay attention to this going forward and if I find a way to reproduce on demand, will let you know.

On a separate note, is there a “donation” process for OnlyOffice? We’re very impressed with this suite (blows the other *Office suites out the water) and would like to contribute.
