Trouble Saving Spreadsheet

I recently attempted to edit and save changes in a formerly Excel-created spreadsheet, which is a large 19.1 mb file. However, in any version of OnlyOffice (including the latest version 8.3.3) the file will NOT save changes. In addition, if I attempt to “save as” to rename and duplicate the file, it comes back with an error message.

OS version: AboveOS (Similar to GrapheneOS/Linux)
App version: 8.3.3
Downloaded from: ONLYOFFICE website
Additional information: The file will open properly, but it seems very slow to edit, most likely because it is a large file. However, it worked smoothly (not slow) when I used to make edits using Microsoft Excel.

Few Additional Questions/Comments Regarding this Topic:

  1. Do you have only one Editor instance installed? – Yes, I only have one editor instance installed.

  2. Does the folder to which the files are saved have write permission? – YES

  3. After UPDATING to OnlyOffice 8.3.3 there is no error that appears upon attempting to save the file. After about 30 seconds, the saving icon/window disappears, and the file is still NOT saved or modified. It will allow me to close the file (no prompt to save the file), and all of my changes are LOST. Checking the folder (documents) where it is saved shows no modifications made since early March 2025.

Hello @sunnycowman

Let me know installation type of Desktop Editors in your case. For instance, flatpak, snap, DEB/RPM package, etc.

If possible, please also record a video demo according to the scenario:

  1. Open a file that produces the issue with saving;
  2. Make some changes and save the file;
  3. Close the file, but do not leave the app;
  4. Go back to Recent list and open the file again.

If the changes are not saved, please share the recording.

Hello @Constantine

On my work computer, it is a Windows 11, OnlyOffice version 8.3.3.21 (x64exe). I have attached the screen recording. It is very slow. After about 3 minutes, it gave an error. None of the possible reasons it could not save the file apply in this case (i.e. the file is not read-only, not being edited by others, and the disk is not corrupted or full). Interestingly, if I close the file before saving it (after attempting to save it) there will be a recover file in the “recents” list, and upon clicking this, the file opens with my test changes. However, I still can’t save the file in any way.

I was also having the exact same issue on my Linux AboveOS computer, except once I updated to the latest version of OnlyOffice (8.3.3.21), there was no error message, but it still would NOT save the file.

The screen recording was too large and long to upload directly, so here is a link to the file in Dropbox. Thank you!

The link was to XLSX file that may contain some sensitive data so I removed the link. Was it intentional to send a spreadsheet instead of video file?
