I was using the Workspace Enterprise Edition. As most of our users moving to use another system, maybe only left around 6-8 users in our OnlyOffice.
Will there be any problems to un-install the Doc Server ver8.0 from the Workspace Enterprise…then install the Doc Server Comm ver.8.2 ?
Running OnlyOffice in Windows Server 2019.
Thanks
Hey @antoniusnata
I will consider the potential challenges you might face with this process, and I’ll get back to you with further details shortly.
In the meantime, if you have an active WS EE license, you can contact OnlyOffice support directly. They will be able to assist you more quickly than here on the forum
@antoniusnata
To fully switch from a version of the Enterprise Edition (EE) to the Community Edition (CE), it’s recommended to uninstall all ONLYOFFICE components associated with the Enterprise Edition. Here are the steps in detail:
-
Uninstallation of Enterprise Edition Components:
- Go to Programs and Features in Windows, find all items named “ONLYOFFICE *” (such as ONLYOFFICE Document Server, ONLYOFFICE Community Server, etc.), and uninstall them.
- Important: Do not manually delete the folders where ONLYOFFICE was installed. These folders contain data that will be retained for the new installation.
-
Installation of ONLYOFFICE Workspace Community Edition:
- Download the installer for the Community Edition, specifically ONLYOFFICE_Workspace_Win-install.latest.exe.
- Run the installer to set up ONLYOFFICE Workspace Community Edition (CE) on your server.
-
Using the Migration Guide for Reference:
- Although this process isn’t directly covered by the migration guide, the steps outlined in Step 2 of this guide work similarly for migrating from EE to CE:
- Refer to this guide: Migrating ONLYOFFICE Workspace to Enterprise on Windows.
- Follow Step 2 in the guide, which provides steps for uninstalling and reinstalling ONLYOFFICE Workspace. In this case, you’ll be reinstalling the Community Edition instead of the Enterprise Edition.
- This guide effectively works “in reverse,” allowing you to switch from the Enterprise Edition to the Community Edition by following the same process.
After completing these steps, ONLYOFFICE Workspace should be successfully converted to the Community Edition, and any previously retained data should remain intact.
If you encounter any issues or have further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Backup:
-
Follow Step 1 (optional) in the migration guide, which details the process of creating a database backup. This ensures you have a saved state of your current data.
-
Additionally, we recommend creating a full portal backup to preserve all portal settings and content. For more details on this process, please refer to the guide here: Control Panel Backup Guide.
-
Save the core.machinekey
Value:
- The location of this configuration file varies depending on your installation method:
- Windows:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Ascensio System SIA\CommunityServer\WebStudio\web.appsettings.config
- Docker (inside the community-server container):
/var/www/onlyoffice/WebStudio/web.appsettings.config
This will be useful if you plan to migrate to a different server in the future.
Hi Nikolas,
Thank you so much for this guidelines… greatly appreciated.
