Hi OnlyOffice team,
Thank you for all your hard work !
I have two suggestions that would greatly improve my workflow as a university professor.
I recently switched from Microsoft to your products and I am very happy with them, except for a couple of issues with the Presentation Editor (I use it on macOS) :
-
The Presenter mode always starts with the first slide. This is quite inconvenient when working with many slides and needing to make edits and return to a specific slide, like slide 160.
-
Additionally, thereâs no way to enter the slide number directly in presentation mode to jump to it.
-
In PowerPointâs Presenter mode, you can edit slides during the presentation (not just with a pen tool, but also modify text, tables, etc). This feature is incredibly useful, and I would love to see it in OnlyOffice as well. In PowerPoint, you can keep Presenter mode and return to the slide editorâas if they were two separate thingsâand any edits made in the editor will be displayed in Presenter mode.
In any case, thank you for everything.
Hello @JJonly
Weâll take a closer look to the first two points of your suggestion.
Would you mind sharing some examples of the third one? I was unable to find any relevant documentation on possibility to edit slides right from presenter mode in other processors.
Hello @Constantine,
Thank you for your first feedback.
As you can see in the first photo, if you launch PowerPointâs presenter mode and open the preview of all open windows, you can select two windows: the presenter view and the ânormalâ PowerPoint.
Therefore, you can modify the live presentation.
Itâs often necessary to make modifications, and it allows you to stay in presentation mode without having to exit and re-enter.
Or you can still leave a slide on the screen, but edit the next one before it is displayed to everyone.
This is very very useful !
Note 1: For this to work in PowerPoint, before launching the presentation mode, PowerPoint must not be in full-screen mode (you can switch to full-screen mode afterward, but if you do it before entering presentation mode, you wonât be able to select the first window).
Note 2: I havenât found this possibility either in Keynote or LibreOffice.
Thank you !
The second photo where you can modify the live presentation.
OP is correct, with PowerPoint in presenter mode, the original editor window is still open, and you can switch task (such as Alt-Tab) back to it to make changes.
Libreoffice supports this also. Its presenter window opens separately so the original editor window is still there in the background. If you switch to it, you can make changes to any slide and they will be reflected in the active slideshow.
I have wished for this feature as well. If I notice something that needs to be changed, the changes can be made on the fly, rather than exiting out of the slideshow or waiting until later.
Hello @linuxkangaroo,
Thanks for the information, I just tested it, and youâre right it works on LibreOffice when sharing on a second screen (when I tested this before, it doesnât work because my test was on the same screen).
Hopefully, this will also be possible on Onlyoffice one day.
Hello @JJonly, @linuxkangaroo
Thank you for all information. We have registered all 3 suggestions to start the development. Basically, they are:
- Add slide selector to go the specified slide;
- Add possibility to start slideshow in Presenter View from current slide;
- Move window with presentation to tray, when starting Presenter View, to allow switching back to the editing.
Once any news comes up, I will let you know.
