Opening Spreadsheet File Error

Hello, I am a new user of ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors. It has been a nice change and alternative to Microsoft Excel. After downloading the newest version 8.3.2.19 (flatpak) through my Linux Software Store (my computer is running the AboveOS Linux system) I’ve attempted to open a large Excel spreadsheet (19.8 MiB) with several tabs and many pivots tables. However, each time, it gives me the error “We lost access to your file due to lack of memory or some other reason. Please don’t worry and try reopening the file. Close this tab to continue.” But, reattempting to open the file does not fix the issue.

Oddly, I have an older version of the ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors 8.2.2.22 (deb) also installed on my computer, and it opens the speadsheet with NO issues, although it is very slow. Unfortunately, even in this older version it does NOT save the file after I click “save” under the file tab. Even if I try to “Save As” and rename the xlsx file, it will act as if nothing happened, and none of my changes will save, nor will it change the file name. The original file name remains.

I’m wondering if the spreadsheet is too large or complicated for ONLYOFFICE to modify? The version of Excel I was using previously to create/edit it was the newest from Microsoft 365, and I never had any issues with it.

I also had the same issue of not being able to open the excel spreadsheet in ONLYOFFICE in the latest version (8.3.2) on a different computer (Windows 11 OS).

Would greatly appreciate any insight or assistance! Thank you.

Hello @sunnycowman,
Kindly provide the original file for analysis, feel free to redact or replace any sensitive data

Hi @DmitriiV, I am happy to provide the file. I attempted to upload it, but it gives me an error immediately upon trying. Is there an upload size limit?

What is the file size? Alternatively, you can upload it to some file hosting and share the link here

Hi @DmitriiV, here is a dropbox link to the file.

Once you have downloaded the file, please let me know.

Hello,
I tested the file - yes, the issue is reproduced for 8.3.2 version, but this files opens without any problems on the latest 8.3.3 version, please update and check for yourself

Thank you, yes it does open properly now.

However, when I attempt to make changes to the spreadsheet and save them, it says it was unable to save the file due to:

  1. The file is read-only (which is is not).
  2. The computer disk is full or corrupted (it is not).
  3. The file is being edited by other users (it is not).

I have even tried saving the file with a new name to create a new file, but it also will not save. Could it be because there is proprietary formulas or something else in the file (from Microsoft Excel) that OnlyOffice can’t recognize? Seems weird.

Please create a new topic for this new issue. Clarify the following there:

  1. Do you have only one Editor instance installed?
  2. Does the folder to which the files are saved have write permission?
