OnlyOffice 'Dock' icon doesn't show correct version (also, unwanted character substitution in filenames -- 'forward' slash becomes a 'colon')

This could be the issue. Please try the following:

  1. Remove Desktop Editors from the Applications (all, if there are several);
  2. Remove Desktop Editors from Dock;
  3. Remove previously downloaded installers from Downloads folder;
  4. Download new installer;
  5. Install Desktop Editors anew with recently downloaded installer;
  6. Pin it in the Dock again.

After that, I recommend installing updates within the app itself, as I mentioned here:

Let me know if it resolves the issue with app name.

@Constantine… Thanks. Won’t all those steps just possibly eliminate the ONLYOFFICE 2 (which is v.8.3.3)? Or will they achieve something else?

I’m inclined to just wait for the next Desktop Editors update, then install the update from within OO and see what happens.

Earlier in the thread you had asked how I installed the 8.3.3 update. Now I remember. I did it from the link on this webpage: ONLYOFFICE desktop and mobile apps | ONLYOFFICE.
“For macOS 10.13 or higher” . . . “Intel Chip”.

The goal is to make sure that only one instance of the app is installed on the device.

I guess I have to do something, because no docs are showing up in the Recent Files list and nothing happens when I click on Preferences (OnlyOffice dropdown menu).

Do you mean just having two different versions of OO in the Finder files list, even if one of them (the older one) is never used, causes problems?
. . . . . . . .
UPDATE:

I decided I better just go through the steps you recommended.
Everything seems back to normal now. The ‘Recent Files’ list has reappeared and ‘Preferences’ opens when I click on it.

I also now have a theory as to why I ended up with two versions of 8.3.3:
During the current installation I noticed that after I had installed Desktop Editors, the graphic for dragging the application onto the Applications folder remained on-screen. So since I usually walk away when a download & install is occurring, when I came back during the original installation and saw that the graphic was still there I may have thought the installation hadn’t actually worked and dragged the app onto the Applications folder a second time.

Think I’m right about that?

Good to know that it works normally now. I cannot answer how it could’ve happened nor confirm/deny your theory.

Should I mark it as solved or you have any questions?
