Our free ready-to-use integration app is now available in the official Drupal directory. We made some updates to the module code so that the connector fully complies with the Drupal security policy. The app allows inserting office files in posts as well as editing and collaborating on documents in the Media module. Learn all the details below.
About Drupal
Drupal is a free and open-source web content management system (CMS) written in PHP. It provides a back-end framework for at least 14% of the top 10,000 websites worldwide and 1.2% of the top 10 million websites – ranging from personal blogs to corporate, political, and government sites. Systems also use Drupal for knowledge management and business collaboration.
Although Drupal offers a sophisticated API for developers, basic website installation and administration of the framework require no programming skills. Drupal runs on any computing platform that supports both a web server capable of running PHP and a database to store content and configuration.
ONLYOFFICE connector and its features
With the ONLYOFFICE connector (module), you are able to add office files to posts for viewing and collaborate on documents uploaded to Drupal.
Add documents to posts
When creating a post, you can add the new ONLYOFFICE element. Follow detailed instructions
This way you can insert office files of various formats in the embedded mode and your site visitors are able to view docs without downloading them.
Edit office files
In case you need to edit the document embedded in your post or even do it together with other authors, you are able to open DOCX, XLSX, and PPTX files uploaded to the Media module for editing – just select the Edit in ONLYOFFICE action in the operations menu.
Users with the Administrator rights are able to collaborate on documents, all changes will be saved in the same file.
Install ONLYOFFICE Docs
To be able to work with office documents in Drupal, you need to deploy a running instance of ONLYOFFICE Docs (Document Server).
You can choose between the free community version or scalable enterprise edition with professional tech assistance, including a special tariff plan for home use.
Please note: mobile web editors are available in the enterprise version of the suite only.
Install and configure the connector
The ONLYOFFICE integration app (module) is available in the official Drupal directory:
To install the ONLYOFFICE module, follow the steps specified here. To configure it, open the ~/config/system/onlyoffice-settings
page in Drupal, switch to the administrative settings of ONLYOFFICE connector, and specify the URL of the installed ONLYOFFICE Docs.
Starting from version 7.2 of the editors, JWT is enabled by default and the secret key is generated automatically to restrict the access to ONLYOFFICE Docs and for security reasons and data integrity. Specify your own Secret key if necessary. In this case, specify the same secret key in the ONLYOFFICE Docs config file to enable the validation.
