Good news, everyone!
The first version of the TerMef plugin for ONLYOFFICE is already available allowing you to insert the definitions of words and phrases as footnotes when working with French texts. Read this article to find out more.
About the plugin
TerMef is a web-based service that manages the official terminology repositories of the French Ministry of Economy and Finance (Mef) and provides access to the latest version of repository data. It covers a wide range of notions and concepts relating to the field of activity of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, including public finances, education, environment and sustainable development, healthcare, international relations, law, etc.
The TerMef plugin automatically searches for concepts and notions and displays their definitions* from the database making it possible to insert the required definition as a footnote at the end of your document with a few clicks.
*Please note that TerMef only works with notions and definitions in French.
How to install the TerMef plugin
To get started with the TerMef plugin, you need to install it via the built-in Plugin Manager. To do so, access the Plugins tab on the top toolbar and click Plugin Manager. You will see all the available plugins on the ONLYOFFICE marketplace, including TerMef. Find it on the list and click the Install button.
After installation, the TerMef icon will appear on the Plugins tab.
How to use the plugin
When the TerMef plugin is installed, you can start looking for words and definitions. Just open the Plugins tab and click TerMef to launch the plugin.
When the plugin is launched, selecting any word or phrase in your document will allow you to see its definition from different TerMef vocabularies on the left-side panel.
After that, you will need to choose the required notion from the list of all suggested options. You will see additional information about the selected notion, including the corresponding grammar category, the group it belongs to, detailed definition, etc. Now you can just copy the information you need and paste it into your document.
However, you can also insert the definition of your notion as a footnote by ticking the Definition (Définition) box on the left-side panel and clicking the Insert footnote (Note de bas de page) button.
If done correctly, the corresponding footnote will be inserted at the end of your document.
If you want to remove the TerMef plugin, please follow the detailed instructions described in this guide.
