Alongside the release of ONLYOFFICE Docs v8.2, our team is happy to present the new version of the ONLYOFFICE desktop application for Linux, Windows and macOS. As usual, the updated desktop app comes equipped with the most important features of the online suite, such as a revamped interface, RTL support in sheets and faster file opening, and offers some unique improvements, like touchscreen support and local templates. Keep reading to learn more.
Enjoy the revamped interface
To make the user experience more comfortable, ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors v8.2 offers a revamped interface allowing you to choose the way the tabs are displayed in the editors. Apart from the familiar Fill tab style, you can enable the Line tab style, which underlines the tab titles.
Another interface improvement is the ability to use the toolbar colour as the tab background colour. Also, the File menu has been redesigned and new icons have been added.

If you want to try something new, you can activate the newly added Gray theme. With this theme, all the interface elements are alike in colour, and all the ONLYOFFICE editors look the same way.

Make the most of RTL support in sheets
RTL support has been available in the ONLYOFFICE suite since version 8.0 and is getting better and better with each release. In the latest version, RTL support has been implemented in the spreadsheet editor, with the correct alignment of cells.

Save your time due to better performance
In version 8.2, we have optimized the loading scripts, which results in faster file loading. Compared with the previous versions, now the ONLYOFFICE editors open big documents and files much faster.
Edit your files on a touchscreen device
Starting from version 8.2, the ONLYOFFICE suite allows you to work on documents on touch screens. The desktop version is not an exception and provides full touchscreen support in all the editors.
Now the desktop app detects and responds to your touch inputs allowing you to work with the mouse at the same time. For more comfortable work on your touchscreen device, you can use the Magnifier tool to select text with precision and navigate faster.
Associate file extensions
If you open an office file, the updated desktop app automatically checks file type associations and suggests making ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors the default app for this file extension. If you agree, you just need to click the Yes button. In this case, such files will be always opened with the ONLYOFFICE app.
Preview local CSV files
ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors v8.2 lets you preview local CSV files when you import data. When you open such a file, the Import wizard will allow you to see the contents of the file in the Preview field.

Local templates support
Another interesting improvement in version 8.2 is support for local templates. At the moment, this functionality is limited to creating documents from a set of pre-installed local templates that you can find in the Templates section.

- Updated dictionaries and improved spell-checking for all available languages;
- New chart types for viewing, such as histograms, waterfall and funnel charts, and more.

Safer installation on Windows
Starting from version 8.2, the installation path selection window is disabled for security reasons for the .exe installation (Inno Setup) on Windows. This was made to prevent the update service from being installed in an unprotected folder. If you still want to choose another folder, follow these steps:
Step 1. Open Command Prompt (cmd.exe).
Step 2. Go to the installation folder with this command:
cd /d
Step 3. Run the .exe file with the following parameter:
ONLYOFFICE-DesktopEditors-8.2.0.102-x64.exe /enabledirpage
