As explained previously in a different topic, I am trying to convert myself and all my spreadsheet from Excel to OnlyOffice.
Apart from differences in formula writing between software which I managed I have many strange things happening :
When you write a formula and refer to a cell by using mouse or arrows on keyboard, if you try to write after that i.e. “*1000” or anything else, nothing happen, same if you jump to an other sheet of your spreadsheet and refer a cell in the formula. I am obliged to go back into the formula editor, on top of the sheet or directly on the cell where the formula is and push the cursor into the formula to be able to write something else. Frustrating ! Time loss !
The same way when into a formula you refer to a cell of another sheet, then you cannot push the absolute reference of this cell by using F4. This works if the cell is in the same sheet as the formula you are writing. In different sheet, it doesn’t work for me. Obliged to insert one or two $ character manually. Again that’s frustrating. Time loss and typing mistake reason !
I have created few personal functions in Macro menu. Works well (replace the Lambda function in Excel for my use), but some time when opening a file which is using one or more of this function, it says that it cannot make the calculation in some cells. Pressing F9 seems to solve the problem. But why not everytime ? Not really frustrating but annoying.
To finish this topic I will describe what happened to me 3 times already today and this is MORE THAN FRUSTRATING !!! I am almost ready to give up and switch back to Excel. I have spreadsheet of about 1.4 Mb which are full of thermal calculation for industrial furnaces. I had to make some improvements, so I decided to convert it from Excel to OnlyOffice. I did so (took me some time, 2 days ?) and start to improve many things. Their is a lot of calculation and a lot more tests depending of initial conditions… But not so complicated as I can manage it. I happened Three time today the same problem: as I was modifying a formula and pressing Enter, a message appeared saying their is a problem, that I must save it and reopen it. Three time when reopening the file, It shows a blank page and message saying it is loading the file. 2 times after many trials the files finally reopened, but now at the third time this happened impossible to open my file. I restarted few times OnlyOffice, restarted also my PC, but the file looks dead for Onlyoffice. Impossible now to get it opened then impossible to work with that file. This file as some others are very important for my job. I converted an other one and so far do not get that particular problem (more easy calculation file). As I just loose 4 or 5 days of work (converting, modifying and testing) I wonder if I will not switch back to Excel. Any one has already facing this problem ? Any recovery solution ?
Thanks for you attention and your future help !
Yourknico
PS: could the fact my spreadsheet is originally an Excel one I converted to OnlyOffice being the problem ?
Do you mean writing in the cell where you have completed a formula? I’ve tried to reproduce the situation, but without luck. Please record your actions and provide us with a file sample.

We are checking the described behavior, I will contact you shortly.

Could you please provide us with a test file where this issue occurs?

Please provide us with the corrupted file and the original one along with detailed description how exactly you converted it (‘I decided to convert it from Excel to OnlyOffice’)

The described situation is well-known bug, we are working on it already. We will contact you once the fix is released.
I, too, am frustrated by this. Hopefully I can help by explaining in a slightly different way.
I have been using spreadsheets professionally since Lotus 1-2-3 for DOS in 1982. Since that first day, I could always go to a cell, tap the “+” key, it would then automatically go into formula edit and I could use arrow keys or type an address to select a cell.
This is muscle memory that crosses for 40 years. This is the way that spreadsheets operate. ONLYOFFICE does not do this. Therefore, OLNYOFFICE is wrong in this case and it is a bug.
ONLYOFFICE requires that you first type the “=” key instead. First, if you are using a number pad, there is no “=” easily at hand. Second, using either “+” or “=” on the “+ =” key should work. That’s they way it’s always been.
The other issues listed are all accurate. I want to be able to use Linux 100% of the time. This is killing me. I still have Windows in Dual-Boot so I can design my spreadsheets so I know they work in Excel, then I can use ONLYOFFICE for filling in the data only. Even that, I still have trouble with the forced “=”.
ONLYOFFICE is as close as anything to Excel, but it still has some frustrating basic things that it does get quite right.
Hello @TomB
We found known bug in the described scenario (navigation via ‘+’ key) and we are already working on it. I will contact you once we release a fix for it.
