Make OnlyOffice usable for big screens like a Chromebook

OnlyOffice works fine and is a great app for Windows and Linux.
But the android app is very minimalistic in look and feel.

Chromebooks can run android apps. So OnlyOffice is also a perfect option to use on the Chromebook. Not only for at home but in our case I was looking for an Office version that could run offline and is available for every platform we use in School.

OnlyOffice is/was a excellent candidate. But on the Chromebook it doesn’t work as it supposed.

Creating a new document just gives not the same UI as the Windows and Linux app. The options are much harder to find for most users. So isn’t usable.

But even worse files are saved at an unknown location. You can’t select the Downloads folder or any other folder that is in de file manager on the chromebook. So you can’t find any documents back and also can’t open them from your google drive.

And if you open the Files app on the chromebook, browse to any xlsx or docx file and choose to open it with OnlyOffice this works fine. It opens the document. But then when you work in the document and save it… It isn’t replacing the file. OnlyOffice saids it saved the file but the file isn’t replaced or updated. So where is it saved?? The file you excpect that you change isn’t changed at al. If I open the file again with OnlyOffice al my changes are gone. :frowning:

Hello @bshogeman

Please specify how exactly Documents app was installed on your Chromebook.
Additionally, please record the behavior with saving and share it, we’ll review it.
