Loading any file takes a rather long time

Loading any .xlsx or .docx file, even small ones, takes about 15 seconds on my PC with ONLYOFFICE already running. Saving takes 5 seconds.
During this time, CPU utilization raises up to 80%.

My configuration : Dell Inspiron 7110, CPU Intel I3 2330, RAM 6Gb, SSD 512 Gb.

Is this a normal behavior ? Is it possible to reduce this load time ?

Unfortunately, Desktop editors is strongly tied to the architectural features of Chromium Embedded Framework.
It also depends on the size of the file and it’s contents.

Is it possible to reduce this load time?

The time to fully open the file depends on the characteristics of the hardware on which Desktop editors is used.
We are constantly working on product optimization.

Can I ask you to provide a sample file to reproduce the problem?

Hi,
This small file ( 10 lines, 1 column ) takes about 12 seconds before beeing opened ( with OnlyOffice alreay loaded in memory ).
During this time, CPU utilization of OnlyOffice raises up to 80%.

This file is opened in less than one second with Softmaker Planmaker or WPS Office.

File opens in 6 seconds. CPU load 65% (max load)
(When ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors is running)

Opening a file with a laptop with a configuration:
Windows 11
AMD Ryzen 5 5600H
ssd 512
RAM 16 GB
ONLY OFFICE Desktop Editors 7.3.0.184 ( x64 exe )

File opens in 3 seconds. CPU load 35% (max load)
(When ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors is running)

As I said, the time to fully open the file depends on the characteristics of the hardware on which Desktop editors is used.

Thank you for the tests you’ve done.
They confirm that performance of ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors when opening files, is highly depending on the power of the processor :

  • load delay : 12 seconds for Intel I3 2330, 6 s for Intel I7 -4720HQ, 3 s for AMD Ryzen 5 5600H - max CPU load : 80%, 65%, 35%.
