Hi,
I usually use two (2) languages when editing documents. Greek and American English. In order to do proper spell checking, I frequently have to switch between those two languages.
Sorry for interrupting in your conversation but it would be great to add at least something like favourites languages. I found this irritating too, switching between two languages is really time consuming.
I hope you will provide the ability to select which languages appear in the list in the near future, because it is very annoying to search all this list to select the language each time you change the keyboard from Greek to English and vice versa.
This is also true for all non-english speaking users.
Just try to write a sentence that has mixed french and engish, or german and english, and you will immediately realize the frustration it will cause. This case is very common because many non-english documents use words (mostly terminology) in english.
In Microsoft Word, you do not have to change the language of the text manually, because it follows automatically the change of language on the keyboard. I can understand that this is not an easy thing to do, because OnlyOffice runs on several platforms.
But at least you can provide a way (even through a text configuration file) that the user can limit the languages that appear in the list, to the languages that he/she uses.
As for the solution, I do not think that all this huge catalog of languages should appear in the list at all.
Maybe a system that you select (install?) the languages that appear there.
For example French and English US or German and Endlish US etc.
In most cases only one to three maximum number of languages are needed.
Hello DmitriiV,
Would be really fine to have favourite languages. I write with people speaking Danish, German, Spanish (Spain version) and English (UK version) and do not understand why US dialect pops up whenever I try to write in English (colour is correct - color is not) etc.
Do not know how many are working on OnlyOffice so maybe it is not one of the things that come first though I see no other things I find needed to improve in OnlyOffice.
Later when having time to spare your programming people could add an eMail client as in Linux there are not one that is comparable with eMClient (Outlook is garbage, whenever the .pst file get big it corrupts, Microsoft has made a tool to fix that, but the tool does not function either if the file is big.
I made a document - first choose language instead of US English and then also in the globe - then wrote something with spelling errors and saved the document with name of the language it is in.
Then did the same with the other languages and it does function.
Just think it is not the right way as I find it a bit more complicated than needed.
