Importing docspace from FOSS service to run on PAID Dospace platform

Is it possible to IMPORT an exported (backup) from a FOSS Dospace deployment into a paid service hosted by Onlyoffice?

If so, are there any technical caveats? DNS name? SSL port etc?

Thanks
Ivan

Hello @ivan

Do I understand that you have active subscription to DocSpace Cloud and you would like to restore a backup from your on-premise hosted DocSpace there?

Hi Constantine, I’m asking IF I buy a subscription to Docspace Cloud (as a managed service) can I IMPORT a full space export from my FOSS self hosted Docspace?
thanks

I was informed that currently migration from on-premise installation to DocSpace Cloud is not available for security reasons. The only option is to manually transfer all data to the Cloud portal.

Ok, so would need to

  1. open a paid SaaS account
  2. spin up a NEW FOSS server using, say docker
  3. import the FOSS export to the new docker based FOSS instance
  4. copy folders / files TO the new SaaS service?

What about all the user accounts and their room permissions?

Thanks

If I understood correctly, you already have backup from previous installation but the server itself is not functioning anymore. In such case this is correct, to get access to backed up files you will need to restore the backup on another on-premise installation to transfer file further.

I’m afraid this will need to be done manually from scratch.

Thanks Constantine. The situation is hypothetical for now, but may not be at some point soon.

Is there no way to “backup” the per account room permissions via a DB, or JSON file export, even if it only provides a LIST of who is in what rooms and with what roles?

Unfortunately, we do not have such instructions. Accessing database in general is a risky task as it may cause various issues if something goes wrong.
