Files located in a hidden folder cannot be opened

Cannot open files that are located in hidden folders (starting with a dot). I get an error: The file format is not supported. If I move the file to any regular directory it opens without any problems. I suppose the app is considering the file extension from the first dot in the file path. I think it should do so from the last dot.
