Before we get too deep into exactly how this is failing, is it possible/supported to have two or more Only Office documents open in one browser tab? This is not for a document compare, it is just to see/modify multiple short documents in one go.

No, each browser tab = separate editing session. Would you mind describing your idea or issue scenario in details?
This is interesting and as a newcomer to OnlyOffice, it looks like something that would be very useful. However I couldn’t see any way to have more than one document open at a time.
If I opened different documents in different windows, would OnlyOffice complain or is that handled perfectly?
