Strange things happened: I started writing a text ‘on my iPad’ at home and continued writing while traveling through Morocco. I oftenb did this with MSWord, but I an switching to OnlyOffice.
After about five days I onze again opened the file to continue the writing but the whole text was gone into thin air, apart from the lines I wrote at home. No idea what I did wrong. No clue as to there the text went. Quite frustrating and not a good start with OnlyOffice.
Does anyone recognise this kind of ‘bug’? And: is there away to get the text back again? Or is the disappearing final.
I would be happy with any suggestion. Even if it does not bring the text back but helps me to avoid the same disappearing in the future.
Thanks anyway for any reaction.

Hello @Jog

First of all, please clarify which product you are using. As I can see, the category is set as Docs, which is a server solution. however, you are mentioning iPad. Are you using Documents app from App Store?

Secondly, please specify how did you open a file in the app, i.e. from local storage or from connected cloud storage, etc.

Hello Constantine,
Thnaks for your reaction!
I use Docs on my iPad (and on my iMac - I want to switch from MsOffice to a EU based app).
I’m not sure, but I guess I downloaded it from the AppStore via the OnlyOffice websiti.
I openend Docs on the iPad and worked in the tab On iPad (not in ONLYOFFICE, where I have a lot of other files I am working on) local storage. I did not close the file I was working on. After a couple of days I closed the file by using the button at the left of the File-title. That having done I opened another file, worked on it an closed it in the same way. I then reopened the OniPad fil;e to discover trhat only the first few lines were there, all the later writings were gone. The other files I opened and closed (in different ONLY OFFIce Rooms!) were still there and are still there. The disappearing only was in the locally stored file.
Is this the information you asked for?
I hope You can help me. Restoring the lost file is not my first goal; understanding what happend is more important for. I am just starting with ONLY OFFICE and want to trust it as I trusted MSOffice. I want to be sure that my texts do not disappear in any way!! If I dit something wrong, I’d like to know to avoid it next time.
Thanks for a reply!

Correct me if my understanding is wrong: you opened a local file from On iPad tab, made some changes to the file and left it opened for a while, then got back to the file. Did you see a dialog with options Save and Don’t Save when were closing the file? Did you actually closed the app or simply swiped up to minimize it to tray?

Hi Constantine,
I started a file ( + / Document) from On iPad, added several times new texts and yes, left it open. Just closed the app by swiping up.
After a couple of days I wanted to close/save the file and hit the button top left to close it. It looked okay so far.
The next day I tried to open the file by hitting te icon on the iPad, but only found the first lines in the file. The rest of the texts I added was gone.
I closed the file by hitting the left top button. There was no dialogue box to save/don’s save or anything the like.
Mysterious; it did not happen again, although I worked with other texts in the same way and in the Rooms.
Thanks, Johan H

Were other texts created in the same way, i.e. +/ Document?

No, I used the same plce (iPad) but srted a new text after the other one was ruined. So I could not make a reconstrion as it it did happen again (luckily).

Unfortunately, I did not manage to reproduce the issue. If you find a way to replicate it, please let me know, we will analyze it. As of now, I can only recommend saving files before closing the app with swipe up.
