In the Documents app is there a way to create a table from tabbed text?
For example, downloaded data is sometimes provided in several formats – text, PDF, etc.
If an option that separates text by tabs is offered, once opened in OnlyOffice, can a table be created by selecting the text and then choosing an option to do that (e.g., “create table from tabbed text”)?
If so, you can use Insert tab > Table > Convert text to table feature for that. Make sure to selected required tabbed text before applying this feature.
I was looking for something more direct – i.e.,
(1) select the text that’s separated by tabs
(2) click on ‘convert to table’ … DONE
In OO, the sequence is:
Insert > Table > Convert text to table > Table size – # columns > Autofit behavior > Separate text at
… and ‘# columns’ has to be entered manually, which is odd since the user has already selected the text and the number of columns should equal the number of tabs.
I’ve never seen a processor that allows performing this task without any configuration. Have you?
Personally, it is not an issue for me as I select necessary tabbed text and do simply Convert text to table > OK. It does not return any unexpected results as all necessary data is selected prior conversion, hence there is no need to define any parameters unless you are also selecting some paragraphs with tabbed text.
