I want to open docs in different windows. I was told to go to the Settings section in the left side menu, to scroll down to the Open file, click the arrow to open the drop-down menu, and select to open In its own tab or In its own window. Click the Apply button at the bottom of the page.
I am on a Mac and do not get this option. Is this a bug or just not available for MAC OnlyOffice free versions.

Unfortunately, due to technic issue separate windows of Desktop Editors on MacOS are not available. We are aware of this issue and working on it.
