Device: iPad
OS version: iPadOS 18.1.1
App version: 8.2.2 (1040)
SDK: 8.2.2.22
Converter: 2.5.565
Mode: Connect to Cloud
Additional information:
I have an older NAS server in my home. I can access this server via the web from iOS and Windows using this URL:
http://192.168.1.71:9000/ui/#/share
I have no DNS but the IPv4 address is static. The server is old so no https, but it is secure behind my firewall. I do have username/password set up.
When I try to add this WebDAV ‘cloud’ to ONLYOFFICE, I get a general bad address/username/password error. I suspect my server name encoding using the IPv4 address or lack of https is the problem.
Is there a workaround?
Hello @HlcRaleighNC
Does it allow you to connect via any other app? What WebDAV utility is used to start up a server?
In general, usually WebDAV uses some kind of endpoint instead of the address of the server where it is located. If possible, please consult with the documentation of your WebDAV app to find more information in this regard.
Thanks, Constantine,
The NAS server (in this case a Buffalo NAS) is the WebDAV server - there is no WebDAV utility. The NAS server is listening on tcp port 9000. It does not support https (it is 10 yrs old).
If you don’t mind, I will join this thread as well.
@HlcRaleighNC how about the current firmware version of your Buffalo server? Are there fresh updates? Software, Firmware, Updates - Buffalo Technology
I believe we can start with update to current version if it hasn’t been done before continuing the troubleshooting. Additionally, please try to use any other app to get access to your Buffalo NAS (not from the OS\terminal, but from the app as you’re trying to do with ONLYOFFICE mobile app - will the same issue occur?).
This NAS is 10 years old, LS210D version 1.80-0.10 (latest firmware).
-On Windows I can access via SMB.
On iOS using Owlfiles 13.2.3 (13231), a collection of apps such as Google Sheets, Docs, Apple Numbers, Pages can access from iOS Files app to 192.168.1.71 TCP port 445 (SMB).
On iOS browsers such as Safari, Firefox and DuckDuckGo access via WebDAV (http to 192.168.1.71 TCP port 9000).
ONLYOFFICE can import and export files via iOS Files-Owlfiles. I cannot create a file on the NAS, but I can create a local file in ONLYOFFICE and then export to NAS.
I think that is my best workaround.
Dear @HlcRaleighNC
We’re glad that you have found workaround solution. However, could you please run a test? Please try using external IP address of your NAS server. Will the connection issue with the mobile app change?
Thanks for your help.
Changing the NAS server to an IP address not in 192.168.1.* would be too disruptive to my home network. I believe that the problem lies in one of three areas:
- Not having a NAS server name that is not resolvable by DNS. I am not willing to explore that.
2.The NAS server does not support https. There is no way to upgrade this NAS server to support https. I had hoped ONLYOFFICE (free edition) would have commented on that in this thread but not so far.
- ONLYOFFICE (free edition) user interface does not allow one to enter the WebDAV URL. I had hoped ONLYOFFICE might have commented on that in this thread, but not so far.
Regards.
Hello @HlcRaleighNC
The final goal is to check whether the issue is related to the local IP address. If you can run this test, it would be appreciated. This is a necessary step before continuing with the troubleshooting process.
This change to IP subnet is too disruptive for this problem. I appreciate your time. I presume an ONLYOFFICE WebDAV connection does not require https. I understand specifying a WebDAV connection via a URL would be a new feature request. You may archive this thread.
if you don’t mind, we’ll try to continue digging this scenario. I will contact you when we have something to share.
Dear @HlcRaleighNC
Could you please double-check whether two consecutive login attempts result in errors, even after an error occurs on the first login?
One more thing, please reproduce the issue one more time and provide us with app logs files. You can collect them with following steps:
Go to the Settings > About page > quickly tap on our logo several times > wait for the device to emit a characteristic vibration > go back to Settings menu > you will see a new Console option appear > go to Logs tab and check the latest logs.
Hello @HlcRaleighNC
We have received the logs, thank you! We are looking into them. I will contact you shortly.
Dear @HlcRaleighNC
Could you please double check that the app has necessary rights?
Also, please make sure that your server uses
Basic Authentication Scheme
Dear @HlcRaleighNC
Please do not reply via email. You need to visit this very topic and post your answer here. Otherwise, your email might be lost in the forum mailbox.
We have received your screenshot, thank you! How about the Basic authentication scheme of your Buffalo NAS?
iPadOS access for Document app to local network enabled. Unencrypted username and password to select a NAS share. Anonymous access to select a default share.
Thank you! We are checking the situation.
