Is there a way to restore only some files instead of restoring everything from a backup? This functionality exists in some backup-focused tools, but I would like to know if there is something similar that can be done with docspace.
If there is no way to do it, it would be a nice thing to implement in the tool.
Hello @lordkaly
There is no such feature. Can you share more context to the query? From the description it seems that you are not fully referring to the restore functionality, but more like to a possibility to recover some file from a backup, for instance, in case it was deleted from the portal.
In general, considering that files may be located in a room, it does not seem logically to perform restoration of the files without the room they were originally located it. In such case files would be in on a server, but they won’t be accessible on the portal as there is no link to the room they are assigned to.
The functionality is similar to what exists in the Veeam tool, which allows you to choose a file within the backup file and restore only that file instead of restoring the entire Docspace content.
It is useful in cases where a person deletes an important document by accident or on purpose, and someone needs that document, but a complete restore would affect other documents as well, since all the documents would go back to a different date.
With a restore of a single file, there would be no such problem, in addition to of course greatly optimizing the time it takes to restore what is actually needed.
Or perhaps implement a trash can per room, where only the room administrator could clean up the documents deleted in it.
Thanks for the description. I will take a closer look at the referenced app and the suggestion in general. Please await for the feedback.
UPD: the suggestion was just registered. Thank you for your interest.
